Friday :(

Today was a bit slower than the other days have been. Emily was feeling ill today, but it was a fun day for just the two of us to spend some time together relaxing in the hotel room.

 
 

Emily did feel a bit better by dinner time though! So we got to go to the Asian Restaurant for some dinner! I got the stirfried lamb, and Emily got the sushi!

 
 

Its funny, Emily has had sushi every night except Thursday. Sometimes we go to dinner, then after dinner we stop by the sushi place for some take home dessert sushi :)

We only have a couple more days here, and can't wait to see you guys once we get back! But for now we are just going to soak in some more tropical sun!

Thursday!

Thursday was the best day yet!

 
 

We have really enjoyed the company of each other, and the new friends we have made!!

 
 

Today began with another amazing breakfast, and then a glass bottom boat tour from Capitan Crunch and his trusty sidekick Seaweed! They pointed out a lot of cool features of the reef to us and yes Cristy, you can tell Ella we saw Nemo!

 
 

After the boat tour was tome for some pool bar, and then a game of pool with our new friends!

 
 

It was a bright sunny afternoon and then the wind started to pick up so I suggested to Emily that we take the sailboat out! Oh wow, it sure was fun to go sailing again! I haven't been Since GG and I went to sailing camp back in boy scouts! WE were out in the cove having a great ol' time when all of a sudden boom! No more wind. :(

 
 

It took us nearly an hour to get the boat back into shore! But being the excellent sailors that Emily and I are we made it! And we got some pretty good tans to go with the experience!

 
 

Thursday night was another fancy dinner night for us! This time is was duck for me and Pork loin for Emily (because the pork loin was the only one that came with mashed potatoes (: )

 
 

After dinner there was a steel drum band , followed by a fire dancer, and then a bon fire on the beach! Emily and I shared a dance!

 
 

Then it was off to the hot tub with our friends!

Wednesday

Wednesday morning we got up nice and early so we could have breakfast before our amazing couples massage! What a great way to start the day!! We both loved it!

 
 

After couples massage it was time for some pool bar, followed by some pool volleyball! Emily and My team dominated, and won some more auction funny money! Hopefully we can put it to good use Sunday night!

 
 

After pool volleyball it was time to go catch the boat for a 2 hour cruise down to Pirates Cave. WE have some really good pics from the boat cruise that we will share later. ( I really need to get better at this blogging thing!)

 
 

After the cruise we went for dinner in the fancy restaurant! Emily looked stunning in her black dress! I had some excellent lamb chops that evening!

 
 

This place will come with a very high recommendation from me! The food is great! The liquor is top shelf! And somehow they have a staff of hundreds that are always friendly!

 
 

I hope someday we can come back!

Tuesday!

Tuesday morning I got up early and got us signed up for some of the events that required reservations such as: Snorkeling, catamaran cruise, glass bottom boat tour, and dinner reservations at the fancy restaurant, and best… our free massage!!

 
 

Then Emily and I had a little breakfast and set out for a stroll down the beach. Tuesday overall was a pretty relaxing day, mostly just switching it up between pool bar and sun tanning :)

 
 

We did meet some really cool people that day though! Justin and Ashley whom we then did almost everything else with this week.

 
 

Tuesday night was Casino night. We were playing roulette and Emily promptly put her 100 million couple bucks down on 00. who does that? Well she did, and it hit!

 
 

So when it came time for the auction, we pretty much had out pick of things with our couple billion dollars we had!

 
 

After the auction it was time for…the nude beach! JK! Bed time

Monday

Hi it's Brian again. Boy I have a lot of things to catch you up on!

Sorry we haven't posted in a while, we have been pretty busy you know! I guess I will just take you through a day by day rundown of events.

Monday…

I already mentioned the very scary bus ride to the resort…but I forgot to mention that we also were riding on the bus with 6 couples with a combined marriage experience of 33 years, and 11 days. There were 5 newlywed couples including us and a couple that was on their 33rd anniversary trip. WE made friends with all of them and did things with them throughout the week.

Once we arrived at the resort, they "Welcomed us Home" and got us checked in and our bags were waiting for us in our rooms.

The room is amazing. Our bathroom is Huge and we have a really nice porch with a hammock! Emily was very excited about the jacuzzi tub!

After we got unpacked, we decided to go find a bar to start making the most of our all inclusive investment. We met a couple other couples at the bar, and Emily immediately invited them to dinner. She went over to the greeter at the restaurant, and he said "Table for two?" to which em replied, "No, eight, by the beach please!" Emily has been very bold and outgoing on this trip! It has been a lot of fun!

After an amazing dinner, we had to try out the pool!! And then retired pretty early since it was our first night.

A good Photo Host?

Hi! Its Brian this time. So we Arrived in Jamaica yesterday! Somehow the line for immigration and customs was relatively short. I think we got through both in under a half an hour.

Once we got through customs we were directed toward the couples resort lounge and check in. And as promised we were greeted with a smile and a red stripe!

We then got on board our rickety tour bus with our death defying driver, Michael. As it seems, traffic laws are more just traffic suggestions in Jamaica! I have no idea how there were no incidents :)

On the plane ride over Emily read the manual to her new Camera, so she was very excited to try out her skillz! And I must say, she is doing a GREAT job! Hopefully I can find a decent photo host so that I can post some of these amazing pics she is taking! Any suggestions?

Well we are off to breakfast now, So I will type more up later.

The beginning of something great!

Hey it's Emily! It's 6:30 am and Brian and I are at the airport sharing a cinnamon roll and trying to decide where we would like to go today. We ruled out the Florida Keys, Aruba sounds nice, but no. Key largo would be alright. Maybe Bermuda? Or the Bahamas? After much debate, and reading our plane tickets, we decided that Jamaica would be the perfect spot for some relaxing fun!

Yesterday was a good day. So far, I LOVE being married! I love every minute of it. So sorry to disappoint all of you out there who say marriage sucks.

Anyways, yesterday. We got up, chatted with the neighbor, and then went to mass. We said goodbye to Aunt Sarah, Uncle Rich, Peter, and Emily. Then it was off to Panang with Sue for one last round of curry before the trip. Then we ran some errands and tried to get where we wanted to be on packing before we went over to Joe and Cristy's! That was a blast! They were nice enough to agree to watch Sampson for the week AND feed us a farewell steak dinner with home grown veggies (fried up the way we like them). We have some amazing friends. After dinner we settled the girlies in their beds and then played a super fun game. It was good clean fun for everyone :) After that it was back to Sue's to say goodbye to her and Aunt Grace (and pick up a few things we forgot) then it was back to packing. Finally

Brian tried to get me to settle down and go to sleep…. I was too excited!!! But we finally fell asleep and got a 3 hour nap before getting up to head to Jamaica! Almost time to board, there will be more to come!

A work of Fiction

This is a story that TJ wrote. All characters depicted in this story are purely ficticious and any resemblance to anyone alive or dead is purely coincidental.

Ok, so I promised a story. Here goes nothing:

Once upon a time in a castle far, far away, there lived a beautiful princess named, Miley. Miley had a great life. She hung out with little people, scrubbed floors for her evil step-sisters, lounged around in the castle with a tiger, helped her aging father run a book store, and all the other crap that Disney has forced on us as "princess activities" for years. Anyway, Miley had a great life, but something was missing. Miley was alone and had not found her prince charming. Yeah, I know! You would think with all the crap she was busy with, she wouldn't be so lonely. But alas, Miley was saddened by her loneliness. Everyday she'd think, "When, oh when will a handsome prince come to my castle and save me from all this loneliness???". And every day Miley's step-mother would yell, "Shut the hell up and get out of the bathroom!" So, minutes turned into hours, hours into days, days into weeks, weeks into months, months into years, years into decades, decades into meaningless anniversaries, meaningless anniversaries into unnecessary divorces...wait, what story are we in? Oh right! Days turned into weeks, weeks to months, and months to years, and Miley still remained loveless in the castle. Until one day, while trippin' balls and "frolicking" in the meadow with talking animals, a handsome prince galloped into the meadow close to Miley. Miley was struck by his, shall we say, "glory". The Prince was tall, rugged, strong, but with boyish good looks. (Seriously, I'm not into guys, so describing a beautiful dude is kinda tough for me.) Let's just say he was everything that Miley could have ever hoped for or wanted. He was, of course, Prince Otto from the land of St. Hoogeville. Prince Otto was, quite possibly, the greatest man anyone had ever known. Really, who doesn't like Prince Otto once they meet him? Prince Otto's exploits were known around the world. He was the slayer of the Bottle-Nose Sloth Dragon. He had survived an attack from the Salad Bar Monkies, and had tamed the Great Grill Troll single-handed. Miley had heard the legends, but never believed that she would one day meet the great Prince Otto. As the wind blew threw his flowing locks of curly, blonde hair, he looked at Miley and winked, and smiled. He then said, "Hey babe. Whatcha doin'?" It was love at first sight...and that's that. I'm not going into any mushy stuff. It's bad enough that this story has made it to this point. Now fully in love, Princess Miley and Prince Otto mounted Otto's trusty steed, Duke, and road off toward the Castle. They were going to be nice and at least let the step-mother and sisters, the aging father, the height-challenged gentlemen, and the tiger, know that they were going to ride off together and live happily ever after. It's just common courtesy. Anyway, when they got to the castle they found only the evil wizard, Trang. Trang was fiercely opposed to the rights of height-challenged gentlemen, and he hated Princess Miley for associating with them. As Miley and Otto approached, Trang said, "Because you have spent time with these little people in pointy hats, I will punish you...for some reason." He then waved his wand and summoned the most fearsome creature in all the land: Sampson the Yelping Destroyer! Sampson was 300 feet tall and, let's face it, a real dickhead. He yelped and snapped his powerful, grotesque jaws at Prince Otto and Princess Miley. To make him even more angry, Trang blew massive amounts of wind into Sampson the Yelping Destroyer's face. This angered Sampson the Yelping Destroyer and he hunkered down and prepared to pounce on Otto and Miley. "Ha ha ha ha ha ha! You will perish at the paws of Sampson!", said Trang. Miley and Otto knew that the only way they could ever be together was to turn around and run away as fast they could. But for some reason, they decided to stick around and fight Sampson the Yelping Destroyer. Prince Otto tried fighting Sampson first. He unfurled his might sword, stepped confidently toward Sampson and then jabbed at his soft under-belly. Otto forgot that Sampson was 300 feet tall and completely wiffed with his sword. Sampson swooped his might jaws down and ate Otto in one gulp. This stunned Princess Miley. She didn't know what to do. The love of her life had just been eaten by a creature that was strangely, and overwhelmingly cute to her. She couldn't possibly kill Sampson, he was just too damn cute! Duke, being ever diligent, realized that Miley had just been stupified by Sampson's Cuteness Charm. This jolted Duke into action! Duke sprank to his feet (he was tired and lying down), charged at Sampson and jumped like he had never jumped before! This, unfortunately, did not work out well for the trusty steed Duke. Sampson knocked Duke down and then proceeded to violate him from behind. Duke, although being noble and gallant, was very lazy when it came to getting away from Sampson's violation. Duke struggled for a while, but then finally gave up. This meant that over-coming Sampson the Yelping Destroyer, and at the same time getting back the love of her life, was solely on Princess Miley's shoulders. Princess Miley knew that there was no way she could defeat a 300 foot tall monster. She had to figure out another way. That's when she finally realized what needed to be done! Princess Miley calmly walked over to Trang and kicked him square in the nuts. This instantly made Sampson the Yelping Destroyer spit out Otto and then Sampson disappeared. Miley did not realize that the fight was over, so she kicked Trang square in the jingle bells 40 more times. "How did you ever figure out Sampson's weakness???", moaned Trang. "Weakness? I just wanted to kick you in the plumbs for being such an ass to me and my boyfriend!" At that moment Miley realized that she had defeated Sampson the Yelping Destroyer and had saved Prince Otto. Also, Duke had come back after running away like a crying little pussy. So as the sun set in the distance, Prince Otto and Princess Miley rode away toward a new life of happiness and love. They kept saying something about July 16, but I couldn't really hear them over Trang moaning about his aching crotch.

I am not sure how you can be this bad at something and think that you are good.

I am a fairly harsh music consumer as many of you that know me already know. I am prone to get pissed at people that urban yodel the national anthem, people that sing the national anthem too slow, and i am constantly complaining to Emily about how the choir at church slows down the tempo some times 50% from the time they start the song till the time that they end, but this is just absurd.

How can all three people in the band be out of tune with each other? the singer is flat, the guitar is sharp, the drummer cannot keep a beat.

This is the most epic fail of music i have ever seen.

Unless of course they meant it as a joke. Then EPIC WIN!

Leaving on a jet plane...

Hello everyone, this will be my last blog from Australia.

So its Wednesday morning very early, and we are catching our cab to the airport very soon.
This has been an amazing time. I have seen more things on this one trip than many people wil;l see in a lifetime, and I count myself as VERY blessed.

I cannot wait till marid 2011.

I miss you all and will see you soon.

The crazy part of this return trip is that we leave Sydney @ 10:00 am the 24th of July and land in LA @ 7:30 am on the 24th of July.

Free Day 1 in Sydney

Hey everyone!

So we had our first free day in Sydney yesterday. It was kind of wierd not having your day completly planned out for you like it has been for the last week or so, but we managed.

We started our day by taking a stroll around darling harbor. and a bite of lunch. Checked into our hotel, the novotel @ darling harbor and a beautiful place, and then took of for a stroll around Sydney. I stopped by a store and picked up a sweet gift for Em, and then we took a train to the Circular Quay.

This is the location of one of he achitectural marvels of the world, the sydney opera house. I didn't realize it, but the roo fo this amazing building is made of ceramic tile. It is absolutely stunning, We ended the afternoon with a beez neez honey wheat beer on the warf at sunset. AMAZING!

We then took a stroll back to china town, but not before we stopped and listened to a sweet street performing techno digeredoo fat painted man. Rockin awesome.

We stopped in china town for dinner, and then ended the night with a bit of shirt ball in the hotel pool.

So far this morning i have woken up and had the most amazing brekky ever. Thanks for the 5 star hotel father.

WYD Mass

So we had a great past couple days. We started Saturday morning with a nice early 5:45 am wake up call. Then headed up to North Sydney to begin our pilgramage walk. The walk started with a prance across the Sydney harbor bridge, and after 3 miles we stopped for a mass with all the Catholic Bishops from the united states.

Then the final three miles to Randwick Racecourse where 500,000 catholics gathered and camped out for the morning mass with Pope Benidict.

It was quite cold so i couldn't sleep and so i passed the time by walking around and mingling with all the people from around the world. This was definitely an amazing experince.

I only have a couple more days here, and while i really miss my Friends, especially Emily, I am really enjoying my time here as well.

I have already put together my savings plan for the 2011 world youth day in Madrid!!!!

Ok Finally I can write a proper blog.

Since I have not been able to blog for the last few days, this one will be quite long i think. I guess I will pick up where we left off.

Monday!

Monday was our travel day. We arrived at southern cross station early in the morning, but not before Margret served us a traditional aussie brekky of cereal, toast w/ veggiemite, eggs, aussie style bacon, and fruit. (If that sounds familiar, it is because australian culture is very similar to American culture with two major differences. 1. they drive on the left side of the road 2. they speak with an English accent.)

When we got to Southern Cross Station, we boarded a bus and checked our luggage, and headed off on a little 12 hour journey to Sydney. We were joined on the trip but a camera crew from channel 7 melbourne and Bishop Something.

Along the route to Sydney we stopped three times to let the drivers rest, and mingle and use the toilets. Lucky for us bishop something, who by the first rest stop had earned the title Bishop Windbag, left us at the first stop. His favorite thing to do was hear himself talk. So we were happy for him to leave us.

At one stop I chatted with group from Papa New Guinea (PNG). It was the first time that I was greeted by a non American with a genral warmth about being an American. I also got a bit of a history lesson. Appearently the US fought of the Japanese troops in WWII when they were trying to take over PNG. We then, with Australia's help, helped set up a new government in PNG and allowed them to become thier own sovreign nation. They are very grateful to the US, at a time when so many countries are so bitter toward us. They are also a very poor country, and thier youth leader told me that it was "only by the grace of god that they were able to come here" It was one of the more moving experiences of the trip for me so far.

We arrived in Sydney about 1:25 in the morning and had a nice surprise.....NO Luggage! horray for poor logistics systems. Oh well it is the cross we had to bear.

TUESDAY!

Tuesday was the opening mass, and the first real taste of what World Youth Day (WYD) is all about. We arrived at an old shipping yard on Darling Harbor called Barangaroo. This shipping yard was set up for the opening mass. This place is massive. there were over 200,000 people at mass. We were in a station with about 700 samoans. (I found out that Samoa is pronounced SAH-moa rather than sah-MOA like we usually say it.) It was a great experience.

The Mass was seriously the most amazing mass that I have ever been to. The Music was provided by the Sydney Youth Orchestra and Youth Chorale. Absolutely Beautiful.

After mass we came back to Bondi Beach and had dinner at a little pizzaria with a nice bottle of Shiraz. Great way to end the day if i do say so myself.

WEDNESDAY!

We started Catacisis on wednesday with the Bishop of Lexington,KY. Whoop Go america! Histalk was on trying to define the Holy Spirit, and how we can find him. It was a great topic, and the bishop was definitely not a windbag. He also said a beautiful mass after class.

Wednesday night was just a big youth festival. We started with a trip to St. Mary's Cathedral.

This is an amazingly awesome gothis Cathedral in the middle of downtown Sydney which is not a predominately Catholic city. They also unveiled a new painting of Our lady of the Southern Cross, a great painting, look it up.

After the Cathedral we went Back to Bondi Beach for a concert with Fr. Stan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kgZbP8nddhU

and His dancing Franciscans! Also with Matt Maher, look him upon you tube too. Beautiful night on a beautiful beach under the Southern Cross!!!!!!!!

Yesterday we Saw the pope! Wow i was a mere 5 feet from him.

I am tired. Tomorrow is our 6 mile pilgramage walk. I will write more about it then, but I am vey tired now.

Ahhhh Melbourne

So my time in Melbourne is coming to a close. I guess this post will be a list

1. Melbourne is a beautiful city. There is art everywhere, the town is simply teeming with it, architecture, street music, museums, even the highways are beautiful. I would post some pictures here to help, but my I have lost my camera connection, so i cannot get my pics off the camera itself untill i get a chance to get to an electronics store
2. Melbourne is sports. The major sport in Australia, footy, is immensly popular here in Melbourne. 10 of the leagues 16 teams are from this city. and they routinely bring 40K to the games.
3. Melbourne is people. The people here are absolutely amazing. I would liken it to the American south. Where you can't walk down the street without getting a hello. We have never been turned down for help whilst staying in Melbourne.

Some other things that have happened while in town.

Mike and I will never go hungry in this town. Margret makes sure that we stay well fed. She has cooked us breakfast and dinner everynight we have been here. it has been quite nice.

I got a footyball from one of the men at church. I mearly mentioned that I would like to buy one whilst here, and 20 minutes later here he was giving me one for free. When I get back to OK, we will be starting a footy league.

Also on the way home from the footy game last night there were a couple drunk blokes on the train. One took some offence to my amazing new Brisbane lions hat. So he decided rather than harass the silly American, he would giv eme the scarf for his team. So i guess i am also a St. Kilda Saints fan now as well. Gooo Saints.


My foot hurts very badly. Don't ever step on a hot sparkler barefooted. Especially when you are getting ready to leave for another counrty in a matter of days. You will have a blister, and It will hurt. Luckily i have kept it form getting infected. I started walking normally today.

Today we went out to wine country. The countryside is beautiful. We were on a mission to find koalas. We stopped at an animal sancutary here in southern Australia. Saw a dick billed platypus for the first time in my life. That is one silly looking, yet amazing creature.

The Pope landed in Australia today. That is going to be another thing that I will never forget about this trip.

Footy

Seriously this is a sport that American's should get behind.

Rough, FAST, and TONS of scoring.

I honestly never expected to find a sport that was better than Football live. But Footy definitely gives it a run for its money.

The final score last night was 150-118. These dudes don't wear pads, and they are intense. There were at least 10 guys running around with bloody noses. They don't stop play for anything. This one dude had a very violent head to head collision. This would have caused a 20 minute delay in any american sport. Not in Footy. The dude laid there nearly knocked out, the ref signaled to the doctors, and they came out and worked on him and carried him off on a stretcher, and the whole time play continued on around them. IT was awesome.
